Chatpix — Privacy Policy

Chatpix (“the App”) provides ChatGPT (OpenAI) Ads conversion tracking for Shopify stores. It is operated by Byteberry Analytics LLC (“we”). This policy describes what data the App processes, why, and what we never do with it.

What the App does

When a merchant installs Chatpix and connects their OpenAI Ads account, the App forwards storefront funnel events (product views, add to cart, checkout steps, purchases) to OpenAI’s Conversions API so the merchant can measure and optimize their ChatGPT Ads campaigns.

Data we process

Merchant data

• Shop domain, OpenAI Ads Pixel ID, and a Conversions API key. The API key is stored encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) and is never sent to any browser.
• A delivery journal (event type, count, success/failure, timestamps) so merchants can see what was forwarded. It contains no customer data.

Store visitor data

• Funnel events with order value, currency, and product identifiers.
• An opaque advertising click identifier (“oppref”) that ChatGPT appends to ad links, stored first-party in the visitor’s browser for up to 30 days.
• When the merchant enables Advanced matching: email, phone number, and name from checkout are normalized and SHA-256 hashed in memory, then forwarded to OpenAI. Raw personal data is never written to our database or logs. The only stored visitor-related artifact is the opaque pair (checkout token ↔ click identifier).

Consent

Chatpix integrates with Shopify’s Customer Privacy API. In regions where consent is required, the tracking pixel does not run until the visitor grants analytics and marketing consent through the store’s cookie banner. Our server-side purchase events are only sent for checkouts where the consented browser pixel was active — a visitor who declines the banner is not tracked by either path.

Where data goes

• OpenAI (Conversions API) — receives the events described above, on behalf of the merchant, for ad measurement.
• Vercel (hosting) and Neon (managed Postgres, EU-available) — run the App’s infrastructure.
• We do not sell data. We do not use it for our own advertising.

Retention and deletion

• Attribution pairs and delivery journal entries are operational data kept only as long as needed for measurement and troubleshooting.
• Uninstalling the App deletes the shop’s configuration, attribution pairs, and journal. We also honor Shopify’s mandatory privacy webhooks: customers/data_request (we store no identifiable customer data to export), customers/redact, and shop/redact (full purge).

Your rights

Store visitors should direct privacy requests to the merchant they bought from — the merchant is the data controller; Chatpix acts as a processor. Merchants can contact us at the address below for any question, export, or deletion request.
